Local 8 annually supports Skills Exploration Day and the 2024 event is is tomorrow Dec 3rd and starts at 9:15 am. At 11:00 am there will be some “live on locations” where some students will be able to talk about their prototypes that they have built. When starting work with a Local 8 contractor, please ensure that:

a) You have a referral for the job. This ensures that remittances for dues, health & welfare premiums and pension contributions are made as per your contract; and that hours worked are recorded in our system

b) Your dues are paid to AT LEAST the end of the month you start work. If you start work after the first week of the month, base dues for that month are NOT deducted and remitted. Also keep in mind that remittances are not sent to our office until the 15th of the month following their deduction.

 Rapid Site Access Program (RSAP), the forms and information about the program can be
found on the Construction Labour Relations Alberta website - https://clra.org/initiatives/rsap/
 When you reach the page, click on forms at the bottom, then RSAP member application. Follow the instructions on completing the form and return it to Homewood. They will then contact you to complete the process.
